About Sarah Jackson: My passion for painting structures and places stems from the years I spent living and working in Manchester. Moving from a small town in Cheshire to a big City was certainly an eye opener.
My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience and as Pablo Picasso once said “The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web”. I have always loved architecture and I have been inspired by so many artists such as Picasso, Robert Delaunay and Jasper Johns.
My paintings aim to capture your “First Glance” of Dubai.
Dubai is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, which strives to build the biggest and best in almost everything. Within my work I focus on the freedom explored in construction; the juxtaposition of rich blue skies with city smog; new street signs erected daily; traffic grinding to a halt during rush hour, construction workers lined up, locals rushing to the mosque and the speeding cars down the beach road.
I would describe my work as “Contemporary Cubism”
