Wellness Day


In March 2011, more than 1500 ladies from across Dubai took part in a variety of fitness and health-related activities during Wellness Day 2011 at Dubai Ladies Club, a subsidiary of Dubai Women Establishment. 

This Open-Day event was organised to celebrate International Women’s Day by drawing attention to women’s health for a productive and happy life. Wellness Day was sponsored by Al Rais Holidays, Lactacyd and Johnson & Johnson as Wellness Walk sponsors.

This year’s event featured a variety of attractions such as indoor & outdoor fitness classes and an extraordinary Wellness Walk offering complimentary health screenings to visitors. Entry to the event was complemintary and open to ladies only. 

Dubai Ladies Club’s annual Wellness Day is a unique concept selectively combining fun and health awareness to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles. The day comprised of a variety of attractions such as indoor & outdoor fitness classes, healthy snacks & refreshments and an extraordinary Wellness Walk, which offered complimentary health screenings to all visitors. Visitors were also introduced to the new and improved Membership packages now available at Dubai Ladies Club. The newly launched packages include brand new categories, pricing structure and reduced joining fees of AED 250 only.

Wellness Walk provided free consultations with doctors and pharmacists as the first step towards early detection and disease prevention. Among others, Dubai Health Authority provided over six different medical check-ups which also included advice or early breast cancer detection. During the day, Dubai Health Authority also introduced their new initiative titled Community Health Awareness a city-wide awareness program that with educate residents about community emergency preparedness and how to respond to medical emergencies for themselves and their neighbours. Moreover, Wellness Walk sponsors, Johnson & Johnson, provided a large variety of free medical screenings for all visitors which included diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol and oral care assessments. Other local businesses were also present at the event to provide additional assessments such as spinal and osteoporosis screenings as well as free skincare consultations and express facials by YSL Cosmetics.

The day concluded with a spectacular raffle draw comprising of valuable prizes including Luxury Spa Holiday in Singapore by Al Rais Travels and gift hampers by YSL Cosmetics, Johnson & Johnson and Lactacyd as well as plenty of vouchers to Dubai Ladies Club services.

Since its inception in 2003, Dubai Ladies Club has consistently worked towards improving the quality of life of Emirati and expatriate women living in the UAE through in-house events, facilities and pilot projects. The events span the fields of art, culture, fitness and educational seminars. The primary objective of Wellness Day was to provide all women in Dubai with the opportunity to try new fitness activities, products and health related services entirely cost free, with the view to encourage participation and healthy living on a long term basis.
